Riva 50m enters new superyacht division

By Georgia Boscawen

Riva, a division of the Ferretti Group, has taken one step closer to entering the large yacht market as its new 50m superyacht is relocated to Riva’s new dedicated superyacht division in Ancona.

Known simply as the Riva 50m, the yacht is a collaborative project between Riva and Officina Italiana Design, founded by Mauro Micheli, which is responsible for the design of the entire Riva range. While the Riva 50m has a number of reimagined design cues, the overall appearance of the yacht is very close to the models we’ve seen before, such as the 100’ Corsaro and 122 Mythos. Distinctive features such as the round port holes forward, the long cured lower deck window and the two-tone metallic colour scheme are also included.

The move into the dedicated superyacht division signifies the next stage in construction of the Riva and the first official use of the new facility, which has the capacity for yachts up to 90m.

“Today was a memorable day for Riva, and we’re happy to have started a new chapter in our history that began over 100 years ago,” says Alberto Galassi, CEO at the Ferretti Group. “I am proud to be leading a group of true professionals who are turning the dream of Carlo Riva into something tangible.”

“The Riva 50 offers a superlative experience, with the mark of comfort, elegance and nautical art values, which have been the hallmark of the brand for the last 175 years,” Galassi comments. Galassi shows his admiration for the project by calling the 50m a “superyacht Masterpice,” and claiming that the elegance of the vessel would fulfil the expectations of any superyacht owner.

With 4 decks, and accommodation for up to 12 guests, the new yacht remains below the 500gt threshold, which will result in a number of cost reductions along the way. A tender guarage is situated in the stern, which also doubles as a beach club.

The yacht will now enter the next phase of construction in the new superyacht division of Riva and will be launched in 2018.
