Tankoa launches 50m M/Y 'Vertige'
Having been under construction since the start of 2015, Tankoa Yachts has announced that its new 50m superyacht M/Y Vertige has hit the water in Genoa, Italy. Originally scheduled for launch in March, delivery has been brought forward to April, following a period of sea trials and final outfitting.
As commented by Euro Cantenti, Tankoa’s CEO, the new launch represents a recognition of the ‘boutique shipyard’ values which consists of building yachts with clients, not for clients. Cantenti comments, “despite the impressive background and track record of the Tankoa management, we are extremely proud that the client, his surveyor and broker, Daniel Bussani from Aquila Yachting. Decided that Tankoa was the most suitable shipyard to build his yacht .”
Working in close collaboration with designer Francesco Paszkowski, the management team set out clear objectives for the project, including ‘a perfectly balanced and fluid, timeless design that won’t replicate the yachts currently available to the market’.
Francesco Paszkowski and team were presented with a 499GT package with a six-cabin layout, gym, hydraulic balconies, home cinema and seven-metre tender garage.
As per the client’s request, the interior of the yacht was also styled by the Francesco Paszkowski Design Studio, in collaboration with Margherita Casperini. Here the brief was to ‘reflect a modern but warm’ atmosphere, as well as permanent visual contact with the sea.
Build engineer and owner’s representative, Albert McIlroy questioned the extent of the advancements aboard Vertige and discloses how far the shipyard has come since the delivery of M/Y Suerte. “[Suerte] was a was a very large yacht for a first, but it was backed up by the limitless experience of the managers and technical office. However, it was a challenging experience as we were working with a very tight contractual delivery schedule.”
McIlroy continues, “with M/Y Vertige the shipyard has greatly improved their time schedule management and operation process and they truly have a Teutonic approach that often leaves me speechless for an Italian builder.”
