Benetti announces sale of new 47m superyacht

By Justin Ratcliffe

FB703 is part of Benetti’s Custom collection aimed at owners looking for a fully customisable steel and aluminium yacht with recognisable brand DNA. The exterior design and naval architecture is by Benetti’s in-house team while the interiors will be by Mauricio Gómez de Tuddo, a designer chosen by her Mexican owner, who is a repeat Benetti client.

“This sale is a sign of the commercial success that we are currently enjoying, a success that comes from our capacity to listen closely to our client’s needs and from the quality of workmanship that we can count on to make our owner’s dreams come true,” comments Benetti CCO Fabio Ermetto.

The sale comes after the launch in April of FB268 M/Y Seasense (image 2), a 67m full-custom displacement yacht and the first Benetti with exterior lines by the Dutch designer Cor D. Rover. The launch ceremony took place in Livorno on schedule with shipyard workers, Benetti management, the owner’s representatives and the crew in attendance.

During the Versilia Yachting Rendezous in Viareggio earlier this month, Paolo Vitelli was awarded the Carlo Riva Award (image 3) in recognition of his promotion of the Italian yachting industry, and particularly the Benetti brand, on the international stage.

In issue #180 of The Superyacht Report, we take a closer look at those Italian shipyards building yachts below the 500gt threshold, a category in which Italy is the global leader and FB703 just the latest example. According to Superyacht Intelligence, Benetti has historically topped the rankings in this sector, but as the average size of its projects grows it is currently placed third behind Overmarine and Sanlorenzo based on the current order book.
