Global Order Book 2008:

Despite its turbulent ending the period of November 2007 to the end of October 2008 has seen a continuation of the work of previous years with an order book that displays growth on most parts. The real effects of the world recession will no doubt begin showing themselves in the order books of the next two years, but for now the order book is still looking rosy-cheeked. Particularly interesting will be the order book of 2008/2009 to see which of the current orders remain there and, crucially, which still have owners. No doubt, with the challenging times ahead there will be casualties along the way, but for now let us focus on the work of this and the last few years, which is manifested in the following pages.

Global Order Book 2007:

The year 2007 was a spectacular year for growth, but don’t just take our word for it. The following report provides the definitive breakdown of global orders, for yards building over and above 30 metres, in the period 1 November 2006 to 1 November 2007, enabling you to make an informed opinion. The list is broken down geographically into the Americas, Europe and the Rest of the World – with each region listing yachts by shipyard. Within the listing yacht builds are observed at three stages: Contracts signed in the sample period, contracts signed before the period for completion after November 2007 and finally those completed and handed over since November 2006. For each given build the following fields of information are provided: Vessel Type, LOA, Rig Type, Engine, Hull Material, Class, MCA Compliance, Naval Architect, Interior designer, Exterior Stylist and Owner Nationality. Additionally we detail the contract start date as well as separate launch & delivery dates. Following on from the index is a comprehensive review of the data through statistical analysis in which we try to determine the significant trend of the year and make some prediction about the potential growth of the worldwide fleet going forward into 2008.
